The drive belt on my clothes dryer broke with a loud bang this morning. I bought a new one at a local appliance parts store and repaired the dryer myself, mostly to avoid the hassle of calling and then waiting for a repair person. It was a $16 repair made easy by a how-to YouTube video.

Binging Watch Wes Work lately. It’s fun to watch (someone else) figure out tricky mechanical or electrical problems and come up with work arounds. Considering he buys a lot of old machines, there's no shortage of that. This troubleshooting of someone's recent purchase brought up flashbacks of my early vehicles, like a nissan I had to hit the dash from time to time to get the lights back on.

Nach dem Entkalken des Wasserkochers ging die Öffnungsklappe immer wieder ungewollt auf. Neben hygienischen Problemen ist damit auch die Funktionsweise des Kochers eingeschränkt, da die automatische Abschalteinrichtung auf eine geschlossene Klappe hin eingestellt ist.
Da das Gerät sonst in Ordnung ist, habe ich einen Versuch gewagt, bevor gleich etwas Neues her muss:

Zwei Detailbilder einer Wasserkocher-Klappe aus schwarzem Kunststoff. Im ersten Bild sind zwei rote Pfeile zu sehen, die auf die Schlossfallen an der Seite des Deckels zeigen. Auf dem zweiten Bild ist die Kappe abgenommen und ein Schnapp-System mit Feder ist zu sehen.

A lot of you need something to make you smile, so... we just finished building our patio.

This was built 100% by hand: mostly my dad and my wife's, but a little bit by me as well. Not just putting things in, but also my wife made all of those designed concrete pieces (not the plain ones on the edge, the fancy ones) by hand because she is the most impressive person on Earth.

Our patio with a small smattering of leaves. Near the back is my wife, who is so incredible you can actually see it in the photo. In the foreground, still on the deck are my dogs Snowcone and Roux Stir. The deck itself is comprised of 2 ft by 2 ft squares. The outer border of squares are plain dark gray concrete. The inner border of squares is made of 5 pieces with a designed, angled square in the center and the corners set to match it. Inside that are two larger squares separates by the inner border with designed, angled squares of different sizes that interlock together. The lines between each piece of concrete is dark black..
