This was a successful winter for plant cuttings. Three new grape vines that will replace the shade cloth for the raised beds for all natural shade instead of plastic.
Two pear tree cuttings are on their second pair of leaves. We'll keep one and give one away.
And one of three avocado tree cuttings took. Homegrown avos in Northern California really is a thing, friends,

In front and at the back on the left are two hardwood cuttings of Catalpa, the Indian bean tree.
They are much too small to support the giant leaves of the mature trees but there are green sprouts on both. Whether they can establish is still uncertain but there is some life there at least. The twigs are very light, like balsa. There is practically no substance to them. It will be a slow process I think.
Also, I'm collecting *sticks* already this year, so if there's a Magnolia Tree in your yard.. I'd like a tiny piece or two?
It's easier to root a tree from green portions, but I've got to try everything once.. Roses and Lilac and tropical trees.. even Pomegranate I've re-cloned after growing from seed.
I'm no expert, by a long shot, but there's a lot I've learned in a short while.
