This was a successful winter for plant cuttings. Three new grape vines that will replace the shade cloth for the raised beds for all natural shade instead of plastic.

Two pear tree cuttings are on their second pair of leaves. We'll keep one and give one away.

And one of three avocado tree cuttings took. Homegrown avos in Northern California really is a thing, friends, 😃.

I took some flowers down to the church today as it was my dad's birthday recently but I hadn't had a chance to go. The path leading up to it was lined with these beautiful little violets. They were popping up all over the grass too. Lovely.🪻

Wikidata gives the English common name for Acalypha amentacea (a shrub in SE Asia) as "catch me if you can".

Seemed suspicious, so I followed the reference to the USDA Plants database. Yep, it was the same there. At this point I'm thinking someone vandalized the USDA website, but decide to do a web search.

A number of North Am. sites use this name but it's not clear to me if they just ingested it from Plants or it's actually called that.

Curious.
