The Amazing Creations of Han of Handsome Devil Puppets

🎃 🎃 🎃

"Puppets are infinite. If you know love, they do. If you know sadness, they do. If you breathe, they do. You give them steps and they make them strange. They are sometimes silly, sometimes serious, always honest little vessels.”

Time for the final week of my spooky Halloween creations:
“An hour ago I stood up and fired six shots into him and then he just got up and walked away. I am talking about the real possibility that he is still out there!”

All shot practically using figures and miniatures

🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛ Black Cat Season 🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛

Australian artist Vanessa Stockard paints whimsical portrayals of her muse cats - Kevin, a ball of fut, who is often featured in tributes to famous works of art - and Satan, a black persian almost always seen ruling over an elegant old chair …

“I’ve always had a thing for cats. I love and hate them for different reasons and I find them endlessly entertaining. I grew up with a black Manx cat who was, shall we say, ‘pretty scratchy’ and, well, I guess she stuck with me. She lived a long life and I loved her regardless … Obviously, the mangey black Persian I dubbed ‘Satan’ started a journey several years ago, and eventually, I saw an old sock in the studio and thought… That’s a kitten! It wasn’t. But that wasn’t important. That’s a kitten and its name is Kevin. Logical.”

Theda Bara, ‘The Vamp’

The studios created a fictitious persona for Bara as a woman born in the Sahara ‘in the shadow of the Sphinx’ to an Italian Sculptor father and a French mother. They created an heir of mystery claiming she dabbled in the occult. Her contract requite that she wear a veil in public and only come out at night. They even mentioned the fact that her name was an anagram for ‘Arab Death’

Bara made more than 40 films in her career, but most were lost in the 1937 Fox vault fire and only 6 of her completed films remain.

Theda Bara, ‘The Vamp’

Bara was born Theodosia Burr Goodman in 1885 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Her father was a Jewish tailor from Poland and her mother was born in Switzerland. Her stage name, Bara was taken from her grandfather named Baringer. She was a popular actress of the silent era and one of cinema's early sex symbols. She earned the nickname "The Vamp" because of her sexually seductive roles.
