“Cat People” gets a lot of attention for the jump scares but it’s an excellent example of “no one takes women seriously” cinema which was a plot device for many, many decades. I also really like how this movie demonstrated the difference between a strong foundation for a relationship vs. a weak one.

A lot more to talk about here than the Lawton Bus.

www.filmhydra.comCat People (1942) 😻😻😻😻This low-budget, high-quality suspense film from 1942 blends jump scares with sexual anxiety and gender politics to create a deceptively simple movie people are still arguing about today. Starring Simone Simon, Tom Conway, Jane Randolph, Kent Smith.

@thudfactor It still IS a plot device. 3 movies I watched recently that featured it as a trope were "Z," "The Wind," & "A Wounded Fawn," and that's just off the top of my head.
