WELCOME to BAD MOVIE CLUB!!
In 2025, I’m trying to watch ALL of the ‘amazing’ films from FULL MOON, so I’m choosing three a month from the list. If you want to watch them and discuss them, you can find most of them for free these days on sites like #tubi and #plex. Expand this post to see this month’s selections.
Use hashtag #MastodonBadMovieClub (or #MBMC) and remember: The only BAD movie is a BORING movie. These #FullMoonFeatures films are NOT boring.
SUBSPECIES (1991) Three students get caught in the struggle between a good vampire and his evil brother in the Transylvanian mountains. Subspecies featuring Anders Hove and Angus Scrimm is free on Tubi and Freevee. There are actually FIVE of these movies now, so I figured I would start with the first one and see how many I want to watch. As ‘vampire’ movies go, this one is pretty influential to the genre.
PUPPET MASTER (1990) Psychics find themselves plotted against by a former colleague, who committed suicide after discovering animated, murderous puppets. Puppet Master featuring Paul Le Mat and William Hickey is streaming with subscription on Prime Video, streaming with subscription on Peacock Premium, streaming with subscription on Shudder (Via Prime Video), and 12 others. Believe it or not, there are actually FIFTEEN films in this series.
TRANCERS (1984) A gruff bounty hunter travels back in time to 1980s Los Angeles to stop a twisted criminal who can transform people into zombie-like creatures. Trancers featuring Tim Thomerson and Helen Hunt (what??) is streaming with subscription on Prime Video, streaming with subscription on Peacock Premium and free on Tubi. There are SIX films in this series and the name ‘Jack Deth’ is iconic among FULL MOON fans.
@jacklaridian
I already watched all three this and last month
@provokingcats
I'm pretty sure I saw parts of one of the puppet master movies at some point, but I'm looking forward to getting into the entire company's catalog.
@jacklaridian
I recommend also the Baby Oopsie movies, which I watched 4 days ago at Charles Bands 73th birthday
@provokingcats
I've heard of those movies and the crossovers. I'm dipping into as much as possible this year.
Also, do you know Charles Band personally?
@jacklaridian
I wish I knew him ...
but no, it was just "oh, it´s his birthday. let´s watch some Empire/Full Moon films."
@provokingcats
Ah, well that's a good reason to watch.
