First attempt at making fire starter from collected sawdust, paraffin wax, and an empty egg carton.

The molten wax seemed to leak from the bottom of the carton. So the whole operation was time consuming, messy, and I’m lucky I didn’t set the backyard shed or myself on fire. Obviously I’m an amateur at everything I do. But it was lots of fun. 🔥 😅

Just wrapped up another little #woodworking project. A small coffee tray made from black walnut for my Hario beehive server and coffee cup.

This post is trying to do double duty as my #thecompochallenge submission for this week. This is me trying to lay out some items to satisfy the golden spiral. Not sure if I'm pulling it off or not 😅

Old tobacco barn for sale locally for lumber, just east of #Cincinnati #Ohio in Georgetown, Ohio

"100+ yr old tobacco barn for sale. Reasonably good siding, handcrafted solid beams in structure, wood floored lofts and tin roof.

Open to reasonable offers.. Buyer is responsible for taking barn down and removing it all except for rock foundation." Located #lumber #woodworking

Oh, if I was younger, healthier and the price was fair, I would look into this.

Today's "I'm laid off and bored" project.

Figured a torii gate for my desk would be really nice. So why spend $10 and buy one when I could 1) Pinch the skin between my thumb and finger between a hammer and chisel. 2) Make a mess everywhere. 3) Aggravate my lower back pain by bending over chiseling. 4) Realize how much of a pain in the ass cutting a mortice in a round dowel is.

Thankfully wood filler exists. 🤣

This must be a cooper’s (tonnelier’s) plane. It’s huge. That iron is at least 10cm wide. If so, we would be looking at the bottom of the plane beam (edge side faces up). But I don’t see any place for mounting the spindle legs. Granted the length is cut off in this photo. Speaking of which, it seems rather long, even for a cooper’s plane. I’m not totally convinced. Paul Bunyans’s plane, maybe.
