Listened to the full cast audio with comfy headphone headband. I enjoyed following the story and unraveling the mystery. The book gave me Gathering Blue vibes. I saw the twist coming a mile away but the why kept me invested.

This is totally on me, but I was expecting something more magical and so my expectations weren’t met with the ending.

A little late to the game on this one bit this book did what I wanted it to do. It gives depth and humanity to a previously flat character. Haymich is not the hero you want to root for if you knew him from Katniss’ journey, but knowing his story is something I have wanted for years. You know how it will start, you know how it will end, but the journey along the way will inspire you to think what makes a good man, what makes love worth fighting for, and most importantly how many sparks does it take to fan into a flame?

Binged in a day. It has a strong start. The mystery was compelling and I enjoyed the trip to Austin. The last line was heart warming.

A historical fiction set in France during the plague. It gave me Pillars of the Earth mixed with The Decameron vibes. I enjoyed following the MC’s on their journey and the character development. There were some consequences and some absolutely bonkers depictions of demons and Hell. The ending had some nice symmetry.

The final boss fight was slightly anti climactic. I feel like after such a long journey, I needed more.

The audio was utterly gripping to me. I think WWII is a common setting in historical fiction but this book focusing on the Olympics and the lead up was refreshing.

Another book edge painting foray! This one was a lot of fun, but I did learn that it is possible for the gouache to be too thick. Some of it flaked off when I went to go break part the pages and trying to touch it up was NOT fun

This author is an insta-buy-and-read for me. Holton must love gag anime because that’s how this book reads; I’m just so smitten with all her works!

I absolutely adored this story, and the travels of Beth and Devon were so precious. It was so pure and yet purely Victorian. But now I wonder if Gabriel survived his cousin’s antics!

Meticulous and ridiculous and hilarious, just please: READ THIS BOOK.

This was a super twisty thriller. The formatting counting down to the FMC birthday increased my anxiety SO MUCH. Every time something bad happened, I kept wondering how things could get worse and they did The book had a classic Sarah Pinborough twist (if you have read Behind Her Eyes or seen the Netflix show then you know what I’m talking about)

SUPER brutal cat and mouse thriller involving a serial killer and a medical examiner. I loved the reveal at about 70%. I appreciated the Hannibal references bc this book made me think of Silence of the Lambs The book was pretty short, (on audio it was only about six hours) so I finished in a day.
PSA- this ends on a cliffhanger!

DNF at 20%. Wallis seems so hungry and grasping and I don’t feel sympathetic to her. I’m actually feeling bad for her poor husband Ernest who seems like he is trying to do everything to keep her happy. I kinda don’t want to read about the inevitable cheating. I might come back to this later.

If there was ever a toe-in-the-water to the Fear Street series, this is it. It’s also the only copy of a classic Fear Street in size, cover, and price at my local Books-A-Million and I can’t help but feel that’s because it doesn’t bring the scares (or, really, much of anything).

The story centers on a douche of a dude who is so self-centered and full of himself that he challenges himself to date twins within a specific time frame. They both fall in love with him and begin to play off each other while a third sister - an EVIL sister - is thrown into the mix.

The only thing I kept thinking throughout the whole book is that SURELY sisters would talk to each other more. I mean, I wasn’t particularly close to my brother when we were teenagers, but we knew who each other was dating.

It wasn’t a dumb book per se, but it wasn’t anything special.

MAJOR WWZ vibes, except more traumatic bc it’s a 2025 pandemic and the story is told in first person POV as the pandemic progresses. The wide range of human experience from incel conspiracy theorist, to grieving widow and mother, to the scientists trying to find a cure were done very well. The exploration of grief was a big theme as there were some truly heartbreaking parts. There were some happy parts too and I felt finding that balance was important. I also loved the geopolitical commentary/what ifs. I highly recommend the audio as it had a full cast!
