Today is #LongCovidAwarenessDay and tomorrow will be my own three year coronaversary.

These are some of the “Breathe” artworks that I have created while living with Long Covid. They all have the word “breathe” featured in Morse code. Because I have had to relearn how to breathe properly. And because focusing mindfully on breathing has helped to calm my mind and body.

Breathe – Twilight is a landscape-orientation abstract acrylic painting of a twilight sky painted in dark shades of blue and teal. This is a textured painting, with roughly diagonal lines hatched loosely through the sky. These lines move diagonally up and to the left from a line a third of the way up the painting. Below this line, the lines of texture move diagonally down and to the left, roughly mirroring those above. The sky is painted in dark teal, with some loose areas of lighter sky blue and green, running in patterns along the lines of the texture. The ridges built up in the texture of the painting are topped with a darker indigo shade. Across the imaginary line of reflection that lies a third of the way up the painting, there are textured gold dots and dashes, painted with thick acrylic paint. In groups of dots and dashes, these mark out “breathe” in Morse code.

No... I don't smoke nor do I endorse smoking. It's just a character in a drawing based on my observations of the people in the world I inhabit.

Don't focus too hard on the surface of things when there is a juicy center waiting to be discovered & appreciated.

Favoriting is nice.

The cigarette angles downward with the cigarette's cherry angled toward the bottom of the frame. Coming from the cigarette is a puff of smoke bleeding upwards across the side of the man's face bleeding into his skin and the room around him creating a stream of opaqueness breaking up the chaotic stagnation behind him. The man's expression is dismissive, almost disgust with the situation around him. Being disgusted while being disgusting. Being dismissive while being dismissed.
