#LegendaryWednesday: „When winter was at its coldest and snow lay thick upon the ground, the men of Ulster made pillars of snow, and the women competed to see who could loose water the deepest into the pillar and so prove herself the most desirable to men. One by one they each sat on top of a snow pillar and tried their best, but only Derbforgaill’s reached the ground.“

#WyrdWednesday #LegendaryWednesday: „The evergreens were seen as a sign of hope, and a promise of new life to come in the lush and bountiful impending spring and summer. Until then, homes were decorated with boughs of bright holly and fragrant fir, clinging fronds of ivy and sacred sprigs of mistletoe to guard against misfortune and bring good luck upon the household.“ #Celtic

#WyrdWednesday #LegendaryWednesday: „Despite the ‘death’ of winter, the evergreens continue to push stoically through the snow, bracing their stunning shield of vibrant green against the cruel onslaught of winter. How do they flourish in the deep dark season, when all else hides or fails? What magical powers do they possess which ensure their survival? They must surely be blessed by the Gods and full of potent power.“ #Celtic

#LegendaryWednesday: `#Cliodna had three beautiful birds accompany Tadg on his journey home to Ireland: `one of them blue and his head crimson, and one was crimson and his head green, and the third was speckled and his head the colour of gold, and they lit on the great apple-tree, and every bird of them ate an apple, and they sang sweet music then, that would put sick men into their sleep.
"Those birds will go with you," Cliodna said then; "they will give you guidance on your way, and they will make music for you, and there will be neither sorrow or sadness on you, by land or by sea, till you come to Ireland.`
