As an atheist, I like to keep an open mind. I've been a skeptic all my life, since before I even knew what 'agnostic' meant, but I found this Christian woman, Barbara Brown Taylor, who focuses less on religion and more on acts and I have to say, I might have stayed in church if this was my pastor. This a 20 minute sermon with no preaching. Wild, I know. Worth the watch, I promise.
What makes you heart sing?
@unclesam I'm reminded of a phrase I'm sure you've heard before, "You can be good without God."
I've known plenty of good god believers, and plenty of bad atheists, but there is no amount of good acts from people that would convince me there is a god. All it would convince me of is that there are good people who believe for bad reasons.
@damcoole
Luckily this woman isn't trying to convince anyone of anything. The point isn't that she's 'one of the good ones.' The point is that she's speaking the truth, without preaching.
@unclesam @damcoole I don't know if I agree with that. She is clearly not fire and brimstone preaching or trying to convince anyone through traditional means, but I would say this is still a level of preaching that is intended to convince people of the truth of the Bible, just not directly. The fact that it resonates with so many shows that it works.
