Not to mention, can anyone tell me what Flanders did for a living? I know he tried to open a left-handed store once, but how did the neighbors afford their house too? 
@jacklaridian yeah, that's all I remember as well, his attempt at a small business which I *think* survived? But before that? I assume some basic office job.

Maybe, but he was always mowing his lawn and bothering Homer. Maybe Maude was independently wealthy.
