Russ Burlingame
So, they just released a new trailer for #TheMeanOne, a movie that parodies "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" and transforms it into a generational slasher movie a la the new Halloween franchise.

I have one major issue with it.

They choose to name the heroine "Cindy You-Know-Who." Unless they are going full-on #velocipastor and the movie is a lot sillier and more fun than it seems like at first glance, I hate it. Not least of all because there's an easy fix. Just use Cindy Hu and cast an Asian-American actor in the role. If you feel like you must have some funny middle name or nickname for the purposes of parody, then "yoo hoo" or "boo hoo" would work just fine -- the latter being especially appropriate since the character's parents were murdered by the Mean One.

I don't know. It just seems lazy, and it seems like an easy thing NOT to be lazy about.

Full story here: https://comicbook.com/horror/news/the-mean-one-movie-trailer-grinch-horror-movie-parody/
