riot<p>Thinking a lot about <a href="https://social.coop/tags/ChildrensMedia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ChildrensMedia</span></a> lately. I am watching <a href="https://social.coop/tags/Totoro" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Totoro</span></a> with my three year old right now. My Neighbor Totoro came out in 1988, The Little Mermaid came out in 1989. Both movies are aimed at young children, both are fantasies, both feature young female protagonists, but that is largely where the similarities end. </p><p>As a kid, watched and sang along with the Little Mermaid. I enjoyed it a lot. Now, I would not care to have my young child watch it. To start, I think of the fathers…</p>
