</p><p><a href="https://bertha.social/tags/staticsite" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>staticsite</span></a> <a href="https://bertha.social/tags/markdown" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>markdown</span></a> <a href="https://bertha.social/tags/python" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>python</span></a> <a href="https://bertha.social/tags/freesoftware" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>freesoftware</span></a></p>
Robert Kingett<p>So I’m playing around with <a href="https://caneandable.social/tags/Hugo" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Hugo</span></a> modules, and this really is a much easier way to do Hugo. Is there a database of these modules somewhere? Maybe like a getting started directory for modules that you can use other than themes? somewhere? I know you can use them for other things, but I’m having trouble figuring out what else to use them for other than themes. When I launch the new website, I’m going to upgrade my static site generator guide because this is so much easier. <a href="https://caneandable.social/tags/SSG" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SSG</span></a> <a href="https://caneandable.social/tags/staticSite" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>staticSite</span></a></p>

It's been quite a while and quite a number of posts, and it's not getting any easier.</p><p>My needs are so minimal, I'm thinking I should maybe look into moving to another static site generator.</p><p>Hugo is what all the cool kids are using, but when I look at it I get intimidated by the whole go module based theme thing and ... Uck. I just need something utterly DUMB ASS simple.</p><p>Does anyone use something like this that they like? Am I over-inflating Hugo's complexity?</p><p>The truth is I was a pretty happy Wordpress user back in the day, but I was an idjit and ran my site poorly so it got knocked over by a script kiddie.</p><p><a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/static" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>static</span></a> <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/site" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>site</span></a> <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/generators" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>generators</span></a> <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/staticsite" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>staticsite</span></a> <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/nikola" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>nikola</span></a> <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/wordpress" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>wordpress</span></a> <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/blogging" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>blogging</span></a></p>

jakeExperimenting with converting one of my Wordpress sites to Jekyll. Already had decided to make it a static site, so a good opportunity to try out this. <br><br>Step one was converting Wordpress export to markdown which was both easy and imperfect. The test Jekyll sit worked but there will be a lot of cleanup in the files needed before I can get to things like theming and proper urls. <br><br>I suspect with all things like this.
