It's getting hot in here ... #BubbleTea
😋

And because I'm a cheapo, there's (almost) always a pitcher of cold, black tea in the fridge, and when I'm feeling fancy, I'll throw in some freshly-cooked, chewy sago pearls.

Unfortunately, I'm out of soy milk. I haven't seen the (soy)milkman (aka Taho vendor) in the neighborhood.

My #BubbleTea isn't experimental any longer: it's a thing I can do, now at the finetuning stage.

Today's: almond syrup (which is a very good idea), darjeeling and plain milk. Could have been a tad sweeter. The bubbles came out a paler colour than previously, whether because they're aging in the bag or I accidentally had them in the pan at a lower temperature for a bit I don't know.

This was the last of the cold Darjeeling, I'll make some Assam tomorrow.

Experiment #3: Critical success! Taro bubbles, melon syrup, Darjeeling and plain milk. Next time I can make it even less sweet, the melon flavour is quite noticeable enough (and we have different flavours of this syrup, I can try them all).
And I have straws now! #BubbleTea

Yes, they did the thing. Experiment #2 (#1 was the very failed experiment a couple of weeks ago): success. I have some mini tins of condensed milk and put in all of one, which was too much, it made the tea milky enough but sweeter than I liked. Added more tea and ordinary milk halfway and that's pretty much perfect.

Next: use fruit syrup as the sweetener, probably with plain milk only. Or coconut cream if a package happens to be open.
