Just realised that today marks one year since X-Men '97 premiered. Still hard to believe how the team behind the show did such a phenomenal job reviving a 32 year old cartoon, living up to, and even exceeding, expectations that were through the roof.

Tolerance Is Extinction Part Three - An epic conclusion to the series. Rogue's 'His Name Is Gambit' moment is epic, and the final battle against Bastion is as amazing as you'd expect. It ends on a thrilling cliffhanger, with most of the X-Men in Ancient Egypt, and Jean and Scott separated from the group elsewhere. #XMen97

Tolerance Is Extinction Part Two: A really epic second part. There's some shocks, like Rogue joining forces with Magneto, but the cliffhanger is one that will stick in the memory. Seeing Wolverine's adamantium being drawn out of his body by Magneto is a horrifying shot and surprisingly gruesome for this show. #XMen97

Tolerance Is Extinction Part 1: A heck of a strong first part. The idea of humans being turned into Sentimentals is a fantastic one, and creates some spectacular visuals. Seeing Charles Xavier being found by the X-Men in a crashed space pod is also a real pump-the-air moment, and leaves me very excited to check out the next part. #XMen97

Bright Eyes: This episode does a fantastic job at exploring the emotional aftermath of Gambit's death, especially with Rogue, who goes completely off the rails. There's a cool Captain America cameo, and Rogue gets one of her darkest scenes too, purposefully letting go of Trask to send him to his death. I'm surprised how far this series goes at times; it's a lot darker than the original X-Men Animated Series. #XMen97

A well-researched covering of the events surrounding the firing of Beau DeMayo as they currently are, approaching the situation with both respect and empathy, while also acknowledging that a lot of things are up in the air at the moment.

It's sad watching this whole thing unfold, especially if the rumours and allegations are true, which would mean that real people were the recipients of repeated inappropriate behaviour.

The one thing stated in the video that I am 100% behind is that X-Men '97 is an undeniable success that came from a team effort. It revived a beloved cartoon that originally came to be thanks to the likes of Larry Houston and Eric and Julia Lewald, brought back the classic theme of Ron Wasserman, adapted and combined storylines from writers like Chris Claremont, Fabian Nicieza, and Grant Morrison, and came to life thanks to a team of writers, animators, and incredibly talented voice actors that made the new show the success that it was. This success cannot be attributed to just one person, and whatever else is going on, this remains a fact. Saying things like "Season 2 will suck now" just erases the hard work of a ton of other people.

(CW for mentions of workplace sexual harassment in the video)

Lifedeath Part 2: A heck of an episode. First you have the shock of Charles Xavier still being alive, then the epic sequence of Storm getting her powers back. It's an episode full of moments designed to make you punch the air, and leaves you excited for the remainder of the series. #XMen97

Remember It: A fantastic episode, giving some excellent character development for Jean Grey and Cyclops, and Rogue, Gambit, and Magneto. It dives into their romantic relationships further, and the conflict that ensues because of the love triangles involved.

Remember It ets surprisingly dark too, with characters literally with blood on their faces after the giant Sentinels' attack. Gambit's sacrifice is depressing, and feels like something they'd never have been able to get away with #XMen97

Motendo/Lifedeath Part 1: The Motendo part of this episode is quite a creative retro throwback to N64 games. Jubilee's journey through gaming levels may be very reminiscent of the recent Jumanji films, but it's still a fun time.

Lifedeath Part 1 is the highlight though. It furthers Storm's character considerably, exploring her frustrations at being powerless, and her relationship with Forge. I'm interested to see if Storm ever gets her powers back. #XMen97
