It's always exciting when I start a new #sketchbook.
The last one - Volume 16 - lasted 20 months which is slightly longer than average.
All my sketchbooks are in the same 148 X 130mm format, they are Daler- Rowney Ebony books which have 150g/m2 acid free paper.
Volume 16 (just finished) started in Glenfield, Leicestershire, England and went with me via Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Grand Cayman, Jamaica, Cuba & Mexico as well as the English counties of Kent, Norfolk, Sussex, Northamptonshire & Lincolnshire back to the last scribble in the book within 500 metres of the first in the book.
I can't boast of any great skill, but it's something I enjoy doing and the books help me to remember our past, and our holidays to distant places.
I would love my grandchildren (and their children) to discover the world through them.
I can't imagine where the next book will accompany me to!
I joined a local Urban Sketchers group yesterday and after living so long in a place where there was none, it was so nice and refreshing to meet likeminded creative people.
Can't wait for the next meetup...
Also as you can see I chose some very nice urban architecture as a subject with lots of colorful trash cans. It was a blast! (Kind of accidentally inspired others to paint them too. ooops)
A cafe drawing now 2/3 through my accordion book. At risk of repeating myself, I seem to be drawn to sitting in the same spot and composing similarly. #urbansketching
Five more people sketched this morning as part of my #oneweek100people overspill 80/100 so far #dailysketching #urbansketching #sketchbook #walktosee #sketchbookartist #watercoloursketch #mastoart
Popped into a local pub that launched an art wall today! Featuring local artists (no fees, all for community benefit) I was ill and swamped and didn’t even take a photo of my painting before submitting it back then. Took a pic of it today! So glad to be amongst local creatives. Made a few connections too. #dailysketching #urbansketching #sketchbook #walktosee #sketchbookartist #watercoloursketch #mastoart
Tunisia medina watercolor sketches (2023).
As I sat on the floor with my sketchbook, one guy gave me free mint tea just to watch me paint. <3
5 more people sketches today, 25 to go to finish my #oneweek100people challenge. Every year it’s different! It’s my third one. So much change in style, technique and most importantly the attitude. Eg this time I remember why I do this (to connect with my community of locals, to simply what I see so it’s thransferable to paper in short amount of time, to explore and have a good time) #dailysketching #urbansketching #cafescene #sketchbook #sketchbookartist #watercoloursketch #mastoart
This is a cafe sketch from yesterday at the local coffee place. Learning to break the laws of perspective as I have in the last 6 months has helped. #urbansketching
A few more people sketched today. Lagging behind the schedule but that’s fine. #dailysketching #urbansketching #sketchbook #walktosee #sketchbookartist #watercoloursketch #mastoart #oneweek100people
