Jack Deth# 3 of the TOP TEN BEST TROMA FILMS“TROMEO & JULIET” Narrated by Lemmy, this modern take on a classic is the first film from James Gunn and one of the best things TROMA has ever done. The chemistry between the leads is really good and the comedy is on point. Ben! (Boo!)I found Sgt. Kabukiman NYPD, one of the only major Lloyd Kaufman films I have never seen for some reason despite being a huge <a href="https://mas.to/tags/Troma" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Troma</a> nut, on Plex which I hope to watch in the next couple days. I think me at the peak of my Troma fandom in my late teens and early 20s I was kind of put off by the fact it was one of the company's only PG-13 releases and their makeup effects, prosthetics, and gore are like usually the best part. Ramblin' JackI have now seen north of a hundred TROMA films over the last year and I think I have a pretty good idea what their deal is. If you haven’t seen any <a href="https://tldr.nettime.org/tags/TROMA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#TROMA</a> films, they ain’t for everyone. TROMA makes exploitation films in the classic sense of exploitation films. These are do-it-yourself independent movies that promise (and deliver) loads of sick violence and shameless nudity, and it’s all in the very WORST of tastes. Troma knows exactly what their audience wants and that’s probably why they’re the longest-running independent film studio in America. I will say MOST of these movies suck, but there are some pretty decent gems in there, and finding those made the whole ride worth it.One thing that I love about these movies is that that they feel like it’s just a bunch of friends fucking around and they happen to make a movie. When they shoot ‘party scenes’ it feels like they’re actually partying that day and every good TROMA movie has a party scene. Also, I watched a couple really documentaries about how these films are made and it really feels like a family. It’s no wonder James Gunn always puts Lloyd Kaufman somewhere in his films. ‘Uncle Lloyd’ seems like someone it would be a privilege to get to know and the loyalty to him seems well-earned. He’s openly gay and his movies definitely have a progressive lean to them, so if that’s not your thing it might be off-putting. All in all, I’ll just say the handful of great movies from this studio are worth watching. I’m gonna make a TOP TEN LIST soon, but I’m not disparaging any of the movies not on the list. I think you should see them for yourself and decide if you like them. Just remember that some of them are made by <a href="https://tldr.nettime.org/tags/TromaFilms" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#TromaFilms</a> and some are just distributed by them. NOT the same thing. So, if you like fart and shit jokes, unnecessary nudity and ridiculously-graphic violence against genitalia… these films will be right up your brown alley. 🤮 <a href="https://tldr.nettime.org/tags/ramblinjack" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#ramblinjack</a>

Jack DethI watched ‘THE TAINT’ for the <a href="https://social.horrorhub.club/tags/MBMC" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#MBMC</a> and it was definitely a <a href="https://social.horrorhub.club/tags/TROMA" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#TROMA</a> movie (severed dicks and poop galore), but it was also trying to be a socially conscious satire about misogyny. Also, the lead pukes a lot and I’m pretty sure he’s actually doing it. This movie is NOT for the squeamish (I feel like I say that a lot about Troma). Troma distributed the film, but it’s a Drew Bolduc film (a guy normally known for special effects). Jack DethI watched ‘BUGGED’ for the <a href="https://social.horrorhub.club/tags/MBMC" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#MBMC</a> and it was immediately obvious this was supposed to be a comedy first and a horror movie second, like most <a href="https://social.horrorhub.club/tags/TROMA" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#TROMA</a> movies are. The biggest issue with this one is how long it takes to get going. Once it does finally get going, the practical effects make it worth the wait. The bugs look awesomely-bad and the story is just plain ridiculous. Jack DethBUGGED (1997) Exterminators unwittingly create monsters by spraying crickets with a genetic mutating agent. Bugged is streaming with subscription on Prime Video, free on Tubi and free on Plex. These comedy/horror movies from <a href="https://social.horrorhub.club/tags/TROMA" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#TROMA</a> have been really hit or miss, but the hits are entertaining. I’m all in for this one.

This one was a little different though because it clearly wasn’t filmed by them, just distributed by the studio. This was actually a series of Italian ‘women in prison’ films spliced together, with no concern for continuity. Jack DethI have to give context on this picture...She was being murdered and the guy inside was confused, so she wrote 'HELP' in her own blood, in big letters on the windows. It showed up backwards so the guy was still confused saying "PLEH??? A tale of friendship, betrayal, madness, and the search for some decent dick. The Slashening featuring Lily Du is free on Tubi, free on Plex, and available for rent or purchase on Prime Video. It's a comedy and horror movie, but if I know <a href="https://social.horrorhub.club/tags/TROMA" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#TROMA</a> projects it will most likely lean heavier toward the comedy side.

Jack DethI watched ‘PSYCHO SLEEPOVER’ for the <a href="https://social.horrorhub.club/tags/MBMC" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#MBMC</a> and I just have to say, no one does comedy/horror like <a href="https://social.horrorhub.club/tags/TROMA" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#TROMA</a>. The funniest part of the movie was the scary movie the girls were watching in the movie called ‘MURDER PIZZA.’ The funny stuff was hit and miss, like most of these movies, but there was enough here to keep my interest. The killers (or 'insaniacs') all had interesting characters and got some funny kills.
