Pretenders - Pretenders
I got excited when I saw this one. I've always loved Chrissie's voice. They're fun to listen to, I just bob my head along the whole time. It is empowering, the handful of female fronted rock bands that came out around that time. I love the sound and the "we don't give a fuck" message they all embodied. However most of my favorite songs from them aren't on this album.

Favorites: The Phone Call, Tattooed Love Boys, Cuban Slide

#GreatAlbums1980s#ThePretenders – Pretenders (1980). For a straightforward rock band (beholden to neither punk nor classic rock), the Pretenders were uncommonly furious. Chrissie Hynde was nobody's fool, her streetwise candor inhabiting lyrics about relationships and sex – without ever pandering to the male object. "Precious," "Up the Neck" and "Kid" rocked with assured integrity, bolstered by James Honeyman-Scott's rockabilly and ska-influenced guitar licks.
