I finished RoboCop: Rogue City and I'm glad that this game exists. It doesn't conform to modern conventions and the state of the art and deliberately harkens back to times long past. You also have to accept that it's at best an A-production that doesn't always know how to shine (the frame rate in the last mission is pure hell). If you like the RoboCop movies and their atmosphere, you'll be happy with this game. I was.

RoboCop: Rogue City is odd (I like it). Although it’s 3D in more or less open levels, it often feels like a 2D side-scrolling arcade shooter. There’s not much finesse in terms of movement, just pull the trigger. The whole game feels like a throwback to a bygone era, and I think it’s done well. (Plus, I handed out parking tickets and chased punks away and got the best rating).

I started with RoboCop: Rogue City, which is part of PlayStation Plus. It’s part walking simulator, part police simulator, and part first-person shooter. Peter Weller voices the Tin Man and does a very good job. Other characters are visually based on Nancy Allen and Robert DoQui. The atmosphere is good.

I obviously love the freedoms & possibilities things like 3D printing has brought us - but there's something special about the efficiencies & creativity of using found parts & available materials to make otherworldly & cool-looking things 🙌

This, the original, full-size ED-209, which STILL EXISTS! 🤯, is one of the best examples of that in all of film & SFX history 🤩

When I read the title of the article, I thought this (from the article) almost immediately:

"Previous attempts to reinterpret Verhoeven’s vision— 'RoboCop' and 'Total Recall' — sit as testaments to the perils of voiding a unique creator’s touch.
