#FullMoon tonight.. sure was bright yesterday, it's hard to tell it wasn't full.
I've got enough photos and videos of the #Moon, I don't think I'm going out in the cold to watch this one.

I generally agree with Kyplanet. There aren't many good objections to putting all kinds of stuff on the moon. (A big space telescope on the dark side would be excellent.)

However, there's one important objection he's missed: Since everyone can see the moon, the ghouls will want to put ads on it.

The moon should NOT be covered in ads. And it's light shouldn't be altered since it's part of the natural cycles of earth.

Full moon, shown in high contrast in near infrared.

A full moon lacks a terminator...that portion of the moon where the sun angle is very low and shadows are very long. (That's a wonderful way to see the moon's vertical terrain, even gentle rolling hills.) The region of the terminator is much darker than the rest of the moon's surface, so when the moon is not full I can't boost contrast much or I'll push the faint terminator terrain into invisible black.

But tonight I can boost contrast so that the new/fresh impact ejecta is white, and the darkest parts of the maria are dark gray.

The disk of the moon is littered with impact ejecta, large and small. To my eye tonight it looks like a cracked and fractured crystal globe.

The second photo is a zoom/crop showing part of the moon's limb where shadow detail is present.

Full moon and Jupiter rising over conifers. (Jupiter is not in the first photo.)

Infrared filter used to darken the sky, which also makes the conifers look almost snow-covered.

First photo shows the full moon rising through partially sunlit trees.

Second photo was taken a couple minutes later and shows Jupiter has also just risen above the trees on the far right of the frame.

Third photo is a zoom/crop of the right side of the second photo to better show Jupiter. I boosted the brightness of Jupiter a bit to make it more visible.
