Regardless of #Manhunter (1986) or #RedDragon (2002), I love the scenes of the Feds racing against time to study/analyse the fan mail from Tooth Fairy to Hannibal Lecter.
Both movies have scenes/details that made theirs better. Manhunter presented the time-urgency better, while Red Dragon made Lecter looks smarter.
I love how Red Dragon reduced the characters (each having their own speciality) and replaced them with one very smart Asian.
Shadow in the Dark (Miami Vice, 1986) parallels Manhunter, the Hannibal Lecter movie (also 1986) directed by the show’s executive producer Michael Mann. A cat burglar - the Shadow - is on the prowl. Red Dragon is a remake of the 1986 movie #Manhunter (directed by #MichaelMann) with #WilliamPetersen as #WillGraham and #BrianCox as #HannibalLecter. It's close which one I like better, but Manhunter wins by a small margin. Both are great movies.

MANHUNTER (1984) directed by Michael Mann. Beautifully shot film, gorgeous synths, very much my vibe. The story was a simple enough crime procedural, but the colours! Worth it just for the skies alone, but pretty great overall.
I'm not big into Hannibal / Silence of the Lambs stuff. But I should've seen this earlier as Heat was amazing, & really liked Collateral too. Need to watch Thief.
For you #MichaelMann fans out there, you may or may not have heard about a little film released back in 1986 called #Manhunter starring #WilliamPetersen as #WillGraham and #BrianCox as #HannibalLecter. This movie scared the crap out of me when I first saw it.
It's the same story told by the 2002 #BrettRatner movie #RedDragon starring #EdwardNorton as Will Graham.
Both movies are based on the novel Red Dragon by #ThomasHarris.
