Amazing shows I've watched recently...

- Daredevil: Born Again S1 (Disney+)
- The White Lotus S3 (Max)
- The Wheel of Time S3 (Prime Video)

And currently watching...

- The Last of Us S2 (Max)
- Andor S2 (Disney+)

Looking forward to more this year. What else should I be watching out for?

PS. Also, can we have just one streaming platform for all of these? I only watch a few shows/movies per platform anyway. 😂

Me after work: "Time to unwind." (starts watching #TheLastOfUs season 2 episode 2)

Me during the episode: 😱🤯😭😡😭😭😭

I haven't played the game, but I knew what was coming because I've read some comments/spoilers online. But I wasn't expecting it to happen so soon. I thought it would be the season finale, not episode 2. I was NOT prepared for that. It's like the Red Wedding all over again.

Meanwhile, the battle of Jackson was giving GOT's Battle of Winterfell vibes. Goosebumps. A solid episode for me. 👏

Don't expect to see "Bridgerton" and "Derry Girls" actress Nicola Coughlan in the upcoming HBO reboot of the "Harry Potter" series. The Irish actor posted on Instagram that she "wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole" after Potter creator J.K. Rowling celebrated the U.K. Supreme Court's ruling on the legal definition of a woman, which excludes trans women. Coughlan is known as an advocate for trans rights; after the ruling, she encouraged her followers to support the charity Not a Phase, matching donations up to £10,000 ($13,200). Here's more from @Variety.

7/ I felt Catherine O'Hara's role in episode 1 was an excellent example of a creative way to provide exposure to the strain on Joel & Ellie's relationship; something the game could introduce in ways a TV show just doesn't have time for.
Episode 2, for me, felt like there was not enough consideration for how the set piece attack (suspending any other criticism of how it played out) is going to detract from the power of what is (hopefully!) to come.

6/ As we move forward into the series, I'm hopeful the team will find ways to continue to move the story in ways that meet the needs of tv but don't shortchange the viewers looking for complex, difficult to process or morally ambiguous components to the wider whole.

5/ With that relative comfort and safety now shattered after episode 2, her choices won't be considered in the same context. They won't provide the viewer with the same provoking thoughts, and they won't contribute to the tapestry of Ellie's character. It's only one example, but theres a number of choices already made as this adaptation submits to episodic TV that I fear will rob us of the special moments the game delivered.

4/ Assuming that the show generally follows the major milestones of the game, Ellie's later choices, when in the context of Jackson and the surrounding area being a relatively safe "as normal is it is likely to ever get in this post apocalyptic world" community, provides an example of the depth of character development the game encourages the player to think through and engage with.

3/ Setting aside the plot armour provided to Tommy, and seeing it for a manufactured set piece to inject more action into the show, my worry is for what it does in the context of the future decision making for Ellie.
