Just told the head gardener who has her own tales of ‘other’ here. One of which we have a shared experience of - a little Edwardian girl.
She’s just offered to make a date to get the dowsing rods out together and ask the house some questions. Am I hesitant? Yes I flicking well am.

Long conversation with a sceptic colleague about the rogue emergency lights earlier. He was with me just now, when I approached the one that lit up the other day and it did it again. It doesn’t have a sensor! He literally didn’t have any scientific explanation - because there ISN’T one. 👻

What has been on my mind today: the high costs of digital sovereignty and privacy.

I quit #Substack and pay 30€ a month for a Creator plan on #Ghost (approx. 360 Euros a year).

I quit Dropbox in favor of #Proton Unlimited (drive but also mail, calendar. VPN). 119 Euros/year.

I nuked my Google Analytics accounts in favor of #Plausible (90 Euros/year).

I'm HAPPY to pay for these services & yet I'm highly aware of my privilege.

#BigTech won't fade in popularity anytime soon bc it's free 😩

All the acetate-based interpretation in the mansion, that normally stays up using static electricity, had lost its charge and fallen to the floor. I joked it was the ghost mucking about with energy, as it didn’t appreciate the Xmas hoardes.
Walked to the next room, and the light next to me where I’ve stopped turns on. I get a colleague but it goes out just before she gets to it.
The fake candle next to us turns off. I turn it back on. Its not a fragile switch by any means…
