When I was younger I thought "prima donna" was "pre-Madonna"
Like Madonna was so important things were categorized into what came before her and what came after.
@nicegnome I literally thought the same!
@nicegnome it's not not true
Me too!
I thought it was like "Pre-Raphaelite", which probably reveals a lot about my upbringing
@nicegnome @petes_bread_eqn_xls I thought euthanasia was about young people in Asia and I didn’t get the reason for controversy.
@nicegnome this certainly applies to Guy Ritchie's films
@nicegnome For people of a certain demographic, that might not be entirely wrong!
@nicegnome I had a fabulous few hours at a bar in Palm Springs,CA, and I’d have to say that your assessment is accurate to many folks in real life.
So. Much. Madonna.
(And i enjoyed it.)
@nicegnome I don't see errors in this statement.
@nicegnome You had it right.
@nicegnome your younger self wasn't wrong, per se...
@nicegnome I did too...
@nicegnome Given how much ground she broke, that's not entirely wrong.
@nicegnome I thought it meant someone on their way to becoming as self important as Madonna
@nicegnome Abbreviated AM/PM
@nicegnome anyway, primadonna and pre-Madonna are very close in meaning. “Pre” meaning “before” and “prima” meaning “first,” with “donna” meaning “lady.” (Madonna just means “my lady”)
I still remember exactly where I was when my pre-Madonna era ended. Walking up main street in Oslo, listening to ”Live to Tell” on the FM tuner in my bright yellow Walkman Sports. 1985? Probably.
First time I had noticed a ”false stop” and there she was:
”If I ran away ”
Mind blown.
