spironolactone
doesnt decrease testosterone or affect testosterone production.
it just binds to the androgen receptor to try and block testosterone from affecting you.
if your endo is giving you more spiro to try and get your testosterone levels to go down, thats a very big red flag that they're NOT A GOOD ENDO.
spironolactone
if you're taking estradiol and spiro, and your testosterone is going down, thats because of the estradiol's anti-androgen effect.
If you're taking a steady source of estradiol (transdermal/injection) along with spiro and your testosterone levels are in cis female range, you dont need to be taking the spiro at all, its not doing anything.
@nerdybutcute @siege I didn't even know this was possible until my GP said she recommends starting with E only, and only adds an anti androgen if T isn't dropping from that alone.
I knew monotherapy was technically possible but I thought it was much harder/rarer.
@nerdybutcute @nictea naw, before we started having patch shortages, 2/3 trans women in the uk were able to get with just monotherapy estradiol using 150-200mcg patches.
bookmarked. ONly on 2mg atm with 50mg spiro. wondering where my levers are at atm
