The 'Trolley Car Problem' never worked on me. This is probably why I didn't enjoy the movie 'KNOCK AT THE CABIN'
The choice of inaction leaves five dead and the choice of action will kill one person. That's the set-up, if you're unfamiliar.
Am I the bad guy if I decide not to take action and 'let five people die' in this choice? No, I don't believe so. However, if I take action then I am actively ending a life.
So, who's the bad guy? The psychopath who set up this death trap, obviously.
@jacklaridian I saw a rail worker reply that if you throw the switch after the front wheels get over first switch, it causes a derailment. Property damage, but nobody dies.
It's the Kobayashi Maru, and there are plenty of us who do not believe in a No-Win Scenario.
@LexPendragon
I will remember that for the next time someone tries to argue this.
