For the first half, Daughter of Darkness (1948) gets us on the side of Siobhan McKenna’s titular character, Emily. Through no fault of her own, the men of her village in Ireland are obsessed with her, and the women hate her. And then there’s the sexually aggressive (and worse) carny worker. Emily is forced to leave, finding employ on an English farm.

@DavidAnnandale Anyone who wants to watch this, I was unable to find it on any streaming services (I use #JustWatch to find, which includes free streaming services). Maybe in the UK there are.
But I found it on #YouTube here on a channel called CLASSIC HORROR MOVIES. I’m just going to assume, since Paramount Britian hasn’t released it in their catalog online, and it’s not been taken down, that this channel has the rights to distribute.
