I need to find some #BoardGames that have a single player mode that don't constantly trip my RSD #ActuallyAutistic chuck-the-whole-thing-across-the-room trigger cos the dice doesn't go my way or whatever. I have to play solo because of my pathological distaste for unfavourable outcomes (no matter how trivial). But I love playing games. It's very annoying!

@AlexTheAutisticArtist What is your desired level of difficulty? I’ve got a lot of recommendations, but I want you to enjoy them.

@grryboy that would be really great! To all intents and purposes I'm a novice. Currently muddling through the early stages of Arkham Horror. Thanks!

@AlexTheAutisticArtist Arkham Horror can be frustrating because of the dice. I’ve heard great thinks about the card game though. It’s more story driven and luck is easier to mitigate and there are a ton of expansions.
Off the top of my head:

Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective series
Pandemic Legacy Seasons (Pandemic 1st, if you haven’t played it)
Hostage Negotiator or Final Girl
Onirim
Forbidden Desert and Island
Spirit Island
Lewis and Clark
Mansions of Madness
Cthulhu
Mice and Mystics

@grryboy @AlexTheAutisticArtist given the "randomness triggers me" comment above, it should be noted that:

Entirely deterministic:
- Consulting Detective

Cards change game state and you must respond:
- Pandemic
- Forbidden X
- Spirit Island

Dice determine outcomes directly:
- Mansions of Madness
- Mice and Mystics
- Hostage Negotiator

(I'm not familiar with the others, although Final Girl supposedly is based on Hostage Negotiator so it's probably similar.)

In the same vein I'd suggest Food Chain Island. Cards are shuffled as part of the setup, then it's all up to you.
It is quite accessible, as it is also available as a print and play.

@gamesbymanuel @grryboy @AlexTheAutisticArtist good point - there's quite a few nice small solo card games from Button Shy im a similar vein, and nearly all of them are available in PnP form at PNPArcade. Sprawlopolis and Agropolis are popular, too.

Grrsly Adams Family Vacation

There really are. If you're up to PnP games, you might also check out the game design contests. There are a lot of games to explore. It's really fun!
